Dear Parent or Guardian:

Welcome to the world of art! Your son or daughter is enrolled in a visual arts class this year. As his or her art teacher, I am writing this letter to introduce myself to you, and to let you know that I am looking forward to a school year of exciting artistic experiences for your child at HPA.

As you know, art making is a wonderful way to learn about others and ourselves. My goals as a teacher this year is to help my students learn the language of the visual arts so that they can: 1) Produce art that is relevant to the contemporary community in which they live; 2) Understand the role of art in past and present cultures; 3) Realize and further develop their skills while creating and learning about art. In order to meet this goal, I will need you and your child’s assistance. It is my hope that we can work together as a team to make this a successful class experience for all students enrolled in the course.
