HPA Technology Information

 

Hyde Park Academy Student Technology Policy

Students are expected to use, protect, and care for any laptops, chargers, and devices issued to them in adherence to the guidelines stated in the Hyde Park Academy Mobile Device Use Agreement.

● Students should only use Hyde Park/CPS-Issued devices for classroom learning.● Students should come to school every day with their devices fully charged.

● Any student who has their devices lost or stolen will be issued a new laptop, charger, or any other necessary device after a parent/guardian has been notified, and the cost for the replaced item is paid. The costs for repairs and replacements are listed in the HPA Student Technology Repair Costs Memo.

● Students are responsible for the cost of repair for any damaged part (i.e. screen, keyboard, trackpad, charging port, etc.) that is not considered normal wear of laptop, charger, or any other given device (including Personal Loaner Devices).

● Any student who has both a lost/damaged personal CPS-issued device AND a lost/damaged personal loaner device will only be issued a replacement device after the fee to cover each device lost has been paid to the school.

● Students are expected to store their devices in their locker during their gym period to prevent devices from being damaged, lost, or stolen.

● Any student witnessed or confirmed by a staff or faculty member to have taken or is found using another student’s laptop which has been reported missing/lost/stolen will be held accountable, and could receive up to an out-of-school suspension.

 

● Any student who has problems with their issued devices must report them immediately to the
Technology Department in Room 129 during their LUNCH period for inspection to prevent further
damage. It is also the student’s responsibility to follow up with the Technology Department on the
condition of their device if collected for repair.

● Students are responsible for keeping laptops, chargers, and devices maintained and clean from food and debris to prevent damage.

● Students are expected to place laptops and chargers in a backpack, tote, or purse that fully covers their devices when traveling within and outside of school to prevent damage that can occur from being dropped.

Hello HPA Parents and Students,

As we are a 1-to-1 (Laptop-to-Student) school, it is essential that students take extra care
of the laptop and charger issued to them for classroom activities and learning

.
According to Hyde Park’s policy, it is the responsibility of the student and their
parents/guardians to pay for repair costs for any damage done to a CPS-Issued Personal Device.

 

Below is a list of the various fees that will be charged due to the need for repair
or replacement of a CPS-issued laptop or charger.

 

 

LCD Screen Replacements:

● Freshman Class: Dell 3110 Touchscreen Chromebooks - $85.00
● Sophomore Class: Dell 3100 2-n-1 Chromebooks - $150.00
● Junior & Senior Classes: Dell 3100 Chromebooks - $30.00
Touchpad - $15.00
Keyboard (Total Replacement) - $30.00
Computer Housing - $60.00
Battery - $75.00
Camera - $15.00
Speakers - $10.00
Asset Tag - $10.00
*Motherboard - If needed to be replaced, the cost of a Chromebook will be charged, and
a new device will be issued.
